Ilmarinen is nestled in the Braid River Valley between the Ukko Mountains to the north and the Wildwood rainforest to the south. With an idyllic, year-round climate, rich soil, and a flower (the ilm) with remarkable medicinal and hallucinogenic properties, the Ilmar know nothing of war, greed, jealousy, or body shame. The impassable mountains and dense jungles kept Ilmarinen hidden from invaders for millennia. In 1026 AGM, this primeval paradise is despoiled when a shift in climate brings devastating drought and an invading bogren host from the Dark Hemisphere, forcing its natives to migrate to civilized lands, where they are subjected to harsh discrimination owing to their brazen customs and aversion to clothing.
